ABOUT KEY WEST TRACK & FIELD CLUB
Key West Track & Field Club (KWTFC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to growing and supporting the sport of track and field in the Lower Florida Keys. As an official member club of USA Track & Field (USATF)—the governing body for track and field, long-distance running, and race walking in the United States—we share in the mission to foster competitive excellence, interest, and lifelong participation at every level of the sport.
At KWTFC, we believe that track and field should be accessible to athletes of all ages and abilities. Our club’s primary focus is supporting the Key West High School track and field program by raising funds for critical needs like transportation, equipment, and facility improvements. Many students face barriers to participation due to a lack of funding for buses, updated training equipment, or essential supplies. Through our fundraising efforts, we aim to ensure that every athlete who wants to compete has the opportunity to do so.
We are also committed to growing the sport beyond the high school level by developing a dedicated middle school track and field program. With no current developmental programs in place for students before high school, KWTFC seeks to introduce younger athletes to the fundamentals of the sport, providing a strong foundation for future success.
In addition, we offer opportunities for Masters athletes (age 30+) to stay involved in track and field through organized competition and community engagement. We believe that track and field is a sport for life, and we proudly support athletes at every stage of their journey.
Our signature event, Pole Vault in Paradise, launched in 2019, brings together elite and amateur pole vaulters from across the country for an unforgettable meet on Higgs Beach. With competitors ranging in age from 9 to 82, the event celebrates athleticism, community spirit, and the unique beauty of Key West in January—all while raising vital funds to support our local student-athletes.
At Key West Track & Field Club, we are proud to invest in the future of our athletes and our community. Whether it's through fundraising, youth development, or Masters competition, we are committed to making track and field a vibrant and lasting part of life in the Florida Keys.
Charitable Giving
Key West Track & Field Club’s mission is to raise money for Key West area high school track and field teams and promote the sport of track and field within the Lower Keys community.
Since 2019 we have donated over $60,000 in cash and equipment to the Key West High School Track and Field Team.
In addition we have partnered with other non-profits that support youths in our community, May Sands Montessori School and One World One Canvas, by sharing food and beverage proceeds at Pole Vault in Paradise.
